‘Krungsri’ teams up with ‘Global House’ to support customers paying via QR code

Krungsri (Bank of Ayudhya PCL) joins hands with Global House (Siam Global House PCL), a leading Thailand-based distributor of home construction materials and decorative products, in steering the country towards a cashless society using QR code. Under this agreement, Global House’s customers can simply make QR code payment at any of its branches nationwide. The move is likely to bring about changes in consumer behavior, while driving the entire nation towards a true cashless society.

Mr. Suratun Kongton, Krungsri Head of Corporate and Investment Banking Group said; “In response to the government policy under the Bank of Thailand’s standardized QR code platform for payment, Krungsri has joined hands with business partners having branch networks in Bangkok and upcountry to promote QR code payment. In the first phase, the Bank plans to implement the service in specific areas or stores under the BOT’s Regulatory Sandbox framework. The Bank has decided to start with Global House, Thailand’s leading distributor of home construction materials and decorative products with nationwide network, which stands ready to support Thailand 4.0, a new economic model.”

Mr. Witoon Suriyawanakul, Chief Executive Officer of Siam Global House PCL, said, “The partnership between Krungsri and Global House would result in better understanding and adoption of payment service that leads to changes in consumer behavior. We believe that our customers will enjoy a new payment experience with easier, faster and safer transactions, as well as more convenience. Global House always utilizes retail innovation for greater customer convenience. The company has also launched a special campaign which provides Global Club members double bonus points when making payment transactions using QR code. Previously we have installed electronic data capture (EDC) devices nationwide to create new payment experiences with more convenience at all Global House outlets.”

Global House is a distributor of home construction materials and decorative products with a wide range of high-quality and value-for-money items. Its products serve needs of homeowners, contractors as well as agriculturists. They include cements and construction materials, steels, roof tiles, hardware, sanitary ware, ceramic tiles, paints and chemical products, lamps, electrical accessories, pipes, doors and windows, furniture, home decorative products, and agro products. All these items are offered under the concept “All Inclusive for Your House”. Recently, Global House has opened Thailand’s largest fully-automated distribution center for home construction materials and decorative products with space available for 43,000 pallets spanning a total area of 100 rai, located in Amphoe Wang Noi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The company has also installed the Automated Storage Retrieval System (ASRS) in all of its stores. Global House currently operates 53 stores nationwide and is planning to increase the number of stores to a total of 55 stores by the end of 2017. The company has already provided the QR code payment service at all of its stores.
